PROJECT: AOL Video (AOL)

Brought on to the AOL Video team to support leadership in driving business strategy toward a delivery of one holistic video experience for the consumer – that also met the needs of content rights holders and enabled ad-supported and transactional business models .

Highlight: conceived plan for increasing revenue beyond pre-roll and post-roll ads. Plan was executed by negotiating with HBO permission to acquire teaser content to popular programs (The Sopranos, Band of Brothers) and then upselling customers to HBO subscriptions or box set purchases.


My Role

  • Key member of the team that defined the product, including the look and feel of the site, the portability across all AOL properties, the feature set, the channels, the ad system & the content intake system
  • Obtained content, including working with both internal and external partners to acquire compelling content for customers to digest
  • Contributed to the audience growth strategy, including working with marketing team to promote product launch and working with individual property owners to embed experiences in their pages.
  • Integrated AOL Video and AOL Radio into the AIM Buddy List
  • Led revenue generation strategy, including working with Sales to ensure that our advertising related features were built in alignment with advertiser expectations
  • Oversaw bug reporting with operations, IT, content owners and QA
