 CREATIVE SOLUTIONS

  • AOL E-mail: goal was to derive more revenue from product. Conducted research and noticed that people were paying for customized email experiences. Worked with Bus Dev to secure rights from American Greetings, professional sports leagues to create a premium email experience
  • AIM: consumers were constantly asking for the ability to talk to more than one person in an IM session instead of having to have multiple windows open on their screen. In collaboration with IT, came up with two solutions – Tabbed IM and Buddy Chat.
  • AOL Video: mgmt. was looking for more revenue than being provided by pre-roll ads. Worked with HBO to secure teaser content with upsell to box sets and/or HBO subscription and defined pay to view experience
  • AIM: CPMs were bottoming out on buddy list ad spot so needed new revenue sources. In collaboration with IT and Sales, defined and launched AIM Expressions (sponsored rich media takeovers) and AIM Bots (sponsored chat bots) – tripled ad revenue first year
  • Mall Buddy: when realization that mall companies paying upfront dev fee for mall apps was stalling momentum, built an ad system and shifted business case to ad rev share and monthly license fee model. Saw immediate results
  • VZW: Power Browser testing showed that consumer adoption intent almost tripled (30% - 80%) once they understood the product’s features and benefits. Problem was limited real estate and connectivity on a mobile phone. Solution: developed a FTU experience screen that included a pre-loaded video tutorial and an expandable FAQ
  • VZW: last minute change request from Legal and Device Marketing would cause material delay if API would need to be modified. Worked with vendor to come up with a solution that avoided any modifications to API and keep launch on schedule. Opt-out flat file delivered nightly to VZW
